Syaikh Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al Rajhi born in 1920. He is a Saudi Arabian corporate figure and billionaire. In 2011, his wealth was estimated by Forbes to be $7.7 billion, making him the 120th richest person in the world.
In 2012 He received King Faisal International Prize for dedicating half his fortune to charity, starting an Islamic bank, supporting charity work and implementing effective national projects.
Sulaiman Al Rajhi was born in Al Bukairiyah, located in Al Qassim province in Saudi Arabia, and grew up in the Nejd desert where he and his brother Saleh began their business by changing money for pilgrims taking camel caravans across the desert to the cities of Mecca and Medina.
Sulaiman Abdulaziz Al Rajhi holds the largest individual stake in his family's Al Rajhi Bank, the most profitable operations amongst all of Saudi Arabia's banking groups.
The Al Rajhi brothers’ business growth and expansion was fed by the flood of migrant workers to Saudi Arabia during the 1970s oil boom. The Al Rajhis helped them send their earnings home to places like Indonesia and Pakistan. In 1983, the brothers won permission to open Saudi Arabia’s first Islamic bank, one that would apply religious tenets such as a ban on interest.
The Al Rajhi family continue to be Al Rajhi Bank's majority share holders though Sulaiman and his brothers have diversified family investments into gypsum, agriculture, steel, and other industrial sectors.
His higher educational degree was elementary degree. He lives in Saudi Arabia and has at least 23 children.
The Al Rajhi family is considered, by most in Saudi Arabia, as the country's wealthiest non-royals, and the one of philanthropists people in the world.
He established the Sulaiman Al Rajhi University in his hometown, a non profit university. The university's main focus is on health and Islamic banking, but contains other faculties as well.
In May 2011, he announced he was donating most of his $7.7 billion fortune to charity.
Sulaiman Al Rajhi is willing to donate all his property, be it money, and property. Despite having scored a total income of $ 6 billion or the equivalent of banking in Europe and America to cooperate in developing Islamic banking. Because of that cooperation, Al Rajhi wealth growing.
He was very rich, but because of his zeal for the religion of Islam, making him prefer to live poor and not luxuries, even he was willing to leave his entire estate

Reasons for choosing life poor because he knows that all his property is the property of the Allah, and he gives his property to his children because he thought the sense of brotherhood is more important than wealth

According ar Rajhi, if someone wanted to be rich then it should work with the maximum, ar Rajhi is the type of person that is hardworking and even he was carrying out his work from subuh until midnight

He is also not the type of person who likes luxury, even with his wealth he could buy private planes

But because of his Muslim teachings, makes him realize that Allah does not love the excessive and arrogant. amazing, the best regular airline he was traveling for work was his own. But strangely, he was still paying for tickets as well as other passengers. He never went on holiday abroad and choose to take a walk through the mountains.


At the age of now 93 years, this billionaire is more focused and active to take care of the social institutions he founded. He was trying to keep an eye on the various regions where the charity that he led operations such as in the area of Riyadh, AlJouf, Qassim and AlLaith. In his old age he won many international awards for his services that seek to combat poverty. He was also able to persuade foreign banks such as the Bank of England who took part in running the business of Islamic banks that he felt able to drive the global economy.
